These are the naming guidelines for the Name a Rival Company in-app purchase in Spec Wars. They mirror the guidelines shown inside the app.
Naming guidelines
Your company name will be visible to every Spec Wars player in the world. Pick something you would be happy to see on a stranger’s screen.
Allowed
- A real name, a nickname, an invented word, or anything that sounds like a phone company
- Letters, spaces, apostrophes, hyphens, periods, and &
- 3-28 characters
Not allowed
- Slurs, hate speech, or anything targeting a group of people
- Sexual, obscene, or violent content
- Harassment, threats, or the name of a private individual who has not agreed to this
- Impersonating a real public figure, or using a real company, brand, or product name
- Names already used by companies in the game
- Web addresses, social handles, phone numbers, or advertising of any kind
- Deliberately disguised versions of the above, including letter substitutions
How review works
Every name is checked automatically before it goes live. Checking usually takes a few seconds.
If your name is turned down
Your naming slot is yours forever. You keep it, and you can submit a different name as many times as you need to, at no extra cost. You will never be charged again and you will never need a refund.
Submission terms
By submitting, you confirm that:
- You are 18 or older, or you have your parent or guardian’s permission.
- You have the right to use the name, and it is not someone else’s name or trademark used without their permission.
- You grant IndieCraft a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display the name inside Spec Wars and in its marketing.
IndieCraft may refuse, change, or remove any name at any time, for any reason, including after it has gone live, if it is found to breach these guidelines. The purchase is for a permanent naming slot, not for any specific name, and no refund is owed if a name is refused or removed.
